Preventive Care First – We help pets stay healthy through routine wellness exams, customized adjuvant and metal-free vaccination plans, nutrition guidance, and early disease detection.
Fear-Free, Low-Stress Visits – In addition to the atmosphere we’ve thoughtfully curated, our team uses gentle handling techniques to create a calm, comfortable and positive experience for pets and their families. This includes solfeggio sound frequencies, pheromone diffusers, PEMF mats, red light therapy, and a specialized heated table for our smaller patients!
Advanced Diagnostics On-Site – With in-house laboratory testing, digital X-ray, and ultrasound, we have several ways of diagnosing conditions quickly—often during a single visit.

Our Story
At Black Mountain Animal Hospital, our story is rooted in a passion for personalized care for all kinds of pets and their families. Founded by Dr. Joe Richichi, after working at more than 30 hospitals in the WNC area as a relief veterinarian, this hospital was created with the goal of building a welcoming environment where every pet receives the time, attention and care they deserve. We believe in combining modern veterinary medicine with an integrated holistic approach and a genuine love for all animals to support healthier, happier lives. From routine wellness visits to advanced care, our team is dedicated to treating every patient like a member of the family.
